I really don’t feel like writing much… just this: I didn’t go paragliding on Saturday after all (it got canceled due to lack of wind), so instead, I went on a little photo trip with Apo, Murat, and company. First, we went to a small viewpoint somewhere in the west, and then we visited Miniatürk. Guess what that is? Yep, that’s right! Turkey in miniature :-) It was definitely a great inspiration for my future cultural expeditions…
Suicide-proof Bosporus Bridge at Miniatürk! Sadly, the actual Bosporus bridges were closed to pedestrians because too many people jumped off 😔
The colorful houses of Istanbul… best enjoyed with blue skies :-)
It was a really beautiful day! Well… and then came Sunday. The pain still runs deep. What a muscle ache! BÜHAK (Boğaziçi University Aviation Club) was kind enough to take me along to Çatalca… Basically, I spent the entire day (okay, probably not even two hours) running up and down a field like a lunatic, with a 10 kg backpack on my back and a paraglider above me. :D It was insanely exhausting (and so hot! I got a sunburn, but I’m sure you don’t want to hear about that), but somehow, it was still fun. On my last attempt, I actually lifted off the ground for a moment! But when it was finally time to fly, the wind gave up on us. Here’s me at takeoff:
The view from the hill and the sunset were definitely a worthy reward for all that torture… and next time, I’m definitely flying! :-)
